The Safety & Community Guidelines (“Guidelines”) establish standards of behavior for all users of the Campus Exchanges platform (“Campus Exchanges,” “Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Guidelines are designed to promote safety, trust, respect, and lawful use of the Platform and are incorporated into the Campus Exchanges Terms of Service.

1. Purpose
Campus Exchanges is a peer-to-peer marketplace intended for college students. Our goal is to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for buying and selling used textbooks and miscellaneous items.

2. General Conduct Standards
All users must:
– Act honestly and in good faith
– Treat other users with respect
– Comply with all applicable laws and campus policies
– Follow the Platform’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Prohibited Items Policy

Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or abusive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.

3. Personal Safety Guidelines
When meeting in person:
– Meet in public, well-lit areas (campus common areas, libraries, student centers)
– Avoid private residences when possible
– Inform a friend or roommate of your meeting details
– Trust your instincts and leave if a situation feels unsafe

Campus Exchanges does not recommend or facilitate private off-campus meetups.

4. Online Safety & Communication
Users should:
– Keep all communications within the Platform messaging system
– Avoid sharing personal contact information unnecessarily
– Never share passwords or verification codes
– Be cautious of requests for upfront payments or unusual payment methods

5. Transaction Safety
– Inspect items before completing a transaction
– Do not send payments before confirming item condition and legitimacy
– Use recommended or trusted payment methods
– Report suspicious activity immediately

6. Prohibited Behavior
The following conduct is strictly prohibited:
– Fraud, scams, or deceptive practices
– Impersonation of another individual or institution
– Harassment, threats, or hate speech
– Academic dishonesty facilitation
– Circumventing Platform safeguards
– Posting false or misleading information

7. Content Standards
All listings, messages, and profile content must:
– Be accurate and truthful
– Avoid offensive, explicit, or discriminatory language
– Respect intellectual property rights
– Not promote illegal or harmful activities

8. Reporting & Enforcement
Users are encouraged to report:
– Unsafe behavior
– Prohibited items
– Fraud or scams
– Harassment or abuse

Campus Exchanges reserves the right to:
– Remove content
– Suspend or terminate accounts
– Restrict access
– Cooperate with law enforcement when required

9. Community Values

10. No Emergency Services
Campus Exchanges is not an emergency service. In case of immediate danger, users should contact campus security or local emergency services.
